Father Of The Groom Speech Examples, Samples, And
Templates
Father of the groom speech examples
and examples are essential in the writing process due to the
following reasons:
· You can learn how to structure your speech
· You can get proven ideas and tips for your script
· You can find ways to express your emotions and pride
· You can find inspiration and guidance and confidence
in writing and delivering a fun and heartfelt father of the groom speech and
toast
Well, I would like to share a short example with you:
Now that you have seen the above example, it’s your turn to write.
However, before you start writing, you need to have a
clear writing plan in place.
This should be the first question on your mind:
What Should The Father OF The Groom Say In His Speech?
Begin by creating an outline for your father of the
groom speech and toast. Here are a few reasons why you have to create one:
· An outline helps you organize your ideas and structure
the content of your father’s wedding speech for your son and new
daughter-in-law.
· An outline enables you to allocate time for each
section and stay on track.
· Having an outline is essential to delivering a clear,
concise, and engaging speech.
From that short example, I came up with this very basic
outline:
· Self-introduction
· Thanks and acknowledgements
· Talk about your son’s childhood
· Talk about his growing up years
· Talk about the bride and her traits
· Share advice/best wishes
· End with a toast
I like to call those key or bullet points: a skeletal
outline as you need to plan specifically for what you would like to say in each
step.
That’s what we will cover in the subsequent chapter: We
are going to pick up those bullet points and support them with stories about
your son.
Let me show you how it’s done.
Let’s start with the first one:
· Self-Introduction
Here’s an example from the above example:
‘’Good evening and I hope you are having a happy time
with your love ones. For those of you who don’t know me, I am the groom’s
father and I am thrilled to be here’’
That is absolutely easy to write, right? As you can see,
writing that is effortless like taking a cup of coffee.
Let’s look at this next:
· Thanks And Acknowledgements
Here’s an example:
I would like to acknowledge a few guests who
have been in Dan’s life throughout his 33 years
of life. Of course, and most importantly is Dan’s mom,
Gloria/my mom(Matt’s grand mom),
Maria(attractive young lady sitting over there)
and my lovely wife Susan. A lot of Dan’s brothers,
sister, uncles, aunts, and cousins are present here today.
Many thanks go to my wife Helen for their love, care and
support for our dear son.
If the mother of the groom is deceased, you can
touch on that briefly by saying something like…Your mom would have been proud
to see you next to Martha. She loved her like her own daughter.
Here’s a simple tip: Write down names of people you
would like to thank and mention why you are thanking them.
Here’s a hint:
His friends: for being a constant source of support and laughter.
This comes next:
· Talk About Your Son’s Childhood
Growing up, Joe played soccer for a while. But, he was a
big fan of the Red Beds, and cars in particular! When he was about eight years
old…
What do you remember most about your son’s childhood?
Write them down as you will need it for this part of your speech.
Let’s look at the next thing:
· Talk About His Growing Up Years
Here’s another example:
He had ridden his bike into town and, with his earnings,
purchased the necessary groceries to prepare my favorite meal!
Seeing how tired I was, he ushered me to the table where
he had set a placemat and served me with a white tea towel draped over his arm
the entire time. His thoughtfulness…
Here are some ideas and pointers to help you come with
good points for this aspect of your father of the groom speech and toast:
· What were his passions? Golfing? Fishing, etc.?
· What did you like to do together?
· What memorable story about his youth comes to mind?
· What one thing still makes you so proud of him?
· What made his teenage years so unique?
Please note: You just have to pick one idea and go with
it. It doesn’t have to be the whole thing.
This comes next:
· Talk About The Bride And Her Traits
So,
What Does The Father Of The Groom Say About His New
Daughter-In-Law?
An example would be:
Steph, no matter how much you love your son, you always
hope and pray that someday…
Not only are you so beautiful, but you are adorable,
strong, determined, responsible, well- organized, loving focused, supportive
and family-oriented.
Here are some great ideas to help you write something
about your newly-minted daughter-in-law.
· Talk about how and when you met the bride
· Mention what you really admire about her
· Share a nice anecdote about her
· Bring out how she balances out your son
· Welcome her and her family into yours
Let’s look at this next:
· Share Best Wishes/Advice For Your Speech
Always love one another for love is all you need now,
tomorrow and forever. Always put each other first, forgive each other and learn
to compromise for the good of the union.
· End Your Father Of The Groom Speech With A
Heartfelt Toast
Can you write that? Writing the conclusion is a breeze
and I hope you can do that. Well, here is an example if you have no idea:
May your love be unbreakable, your love be
unconditional, and adventures unforgettable. Cheers!
Congratulations and may your love blossom like a
beautiful garden!
