Steps to write a mother of the bride speech

You can make it simple by first creating a basic outline for your mother of the bride speech.

Here’s a very simple one I fleshed out of that example.

· Welcome remarks

· Expression of gratitude

· Acknowledge of family and friends

· Let everyone who know you are

· Start on an emotional note

· Share a fond memory about your daughter

· Talk about the groom

· End your speech on an emotional note

Now, let’s explore what goes into each of them.

· Welcome Remarks

Here’s how to get it done:

Hello everyone. You are welcome to the wedding celebration of my sweet daughter Mika and her funny husband Angel.

Isn’t that easy to write? You just have to put down something to help you come up with your welcome address. You don’t have to break your neck over this.

· Expression Of Gratitude

You should start by thanking everyone for coming to the event:

Your presence here means a lot to both families. This is a destination wedding and most of you have travelled considerable distances to be with us and I can only imagine what you went through to get here. Thank you very much for your time and presence. We do appreciate it.

Who else would you like to thank? You can also say a special thank you to the host and event planners.

· Acknowledge Of Family And Friends

They say a family is like a ship’s crew. Everyone plays their part to make it work. So, why not start by thanking everyone for their help and support at the outset of your wedding speech for your daughter . Make a list of relatives who guided her ship and thank them profusely.

You may mention family members like:

· Her grand mom and granddad

· Her uncles and aunts

· The list is endless. Just follow this example:

A special thanks go to my father who was and still is our handyman, our advisor, and my pillar or strength and our source of laughter. He and mom both provided Meagan with great role-models and helped them grow u to be well-adjusted.

Thank you too to my Billy, my brother-in-law, Meagan’s uncle and godfather. He’s the obnoxious uncle, but I can count on him like 1, 2, 3!

· Let Everyone Who Know You Are

Here’s another example:

For those of you who don’t know me, I am Millicent. I am the very proud mother of the bride and she is my best friend too.

· Start On An Emotional Note

Here are a few steps to start on a strong note.

1. Use a powerful personal story to provoke an emotional response from your audience and engage them deeply. Just imagine how impactful your speech would be if you talk about the circumstances that led to her birth. It could be a story about how you had to wait for years to get her because doctors said you were never going to have a child.

2. Share how you felt when your daughter was born.

Here’s what you can say: It’s every mom’s dream to have a baby girl. The first time I held Sonia, everything was right with my world. I cried happy tears at the sight of this beautiful gift of life. I was overwhelmed with beautiful emotions of love and pride as thought about how the future would look like for both of us.

Remember, you have to say that with strong emotions to create the desired impact.

3. This other tactic can work. Before you start your speech, you can break down into tears and tell the wedding audience that you always get very emotional when talking about the bride because she means the world to you.

4. How about starting with a song to make your mother of the bride even more emotional?

Do it if you have a good voice because music is the emotional food of the soul and it can penetrate the heart in a way nothing else can.

· Share A Fond Memory About Your Daughter

Start by making a list of all the great moments you have had with her. Write down the good and bad and what you have learned from them. Then, pick that story that tugs at heartstrings and go with it.

· Talk About The Groom

As this is an emotional and heartfelt mother of the bride speech, you shouldn’t just talk about the groom. You should reference stories that have an emotional appeal.

You may develop your speech along these lines:

· How much he loves your daughter

· Ways he demonstrate his love for your darling girl

· How she’s helped your family in bad times. Did the bride go through a very rough time? And how did the groom stand by her?

· Talk about how he brings out the best in her

· Praise him sincerely and thank him for loving your girl

· End Your Mother Of The Bride Speech On An Emotional Note

Here are three ways to wrap up the way you want it.

1.Conclude with a touching quote from the movies. I really like this quote:

‘’When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible’’- When Harry Met Sally

2. End with a touching marriage advice:

3.Conclude with a quote like this one:

· The best way to spend the rest of your life is to spend with someone you can’t live without.
